Guardian came to GA with this mission: Help us rethink the decades-old standard issue safety harness. GA interviewed construction workers and found that for the elite high-rise worker, the safety harness was their office. Creating a more comfortable fall protection unit would mean they would wear it more often—the most apparent safety improvement.
Accommodations for pictures, pens, cell phones, tool integration and a host of other safety and user focused features have driven sales and helped Guardian grow 6 times larger since the release of The Edge Fall Protection Harness. This project was a classic example of the importance of research and empathy in the design process, and a case study on how great design can impact business.
